Week Leading Up to Your Competition (Pre Tan Care):

  • If using a tanning bed is an option, do it.  A base tan help the Pro Tan® Overnight Competition Color darken even more.  Tanning bed use will also help pull out additional water from under your skin giving you a dryer look on stage.

  • If tanning bed use is not an option consider applying a coat of Pro Tan® Overnight Competition Color at home on Thursday prior to your competition tanning session.

  • Exfoliate your skin daily using Pro Tan® Get Buffed Pre Tan Body Scrub.

  • Discontinue the use of deodorant and moisturizers 3 days prior to your tan.

Regarding Shaving, Waxing & Depilatory Creams

  • Shaving can cause micro abrasions.  Be sure to use a fresh clean razor.  We recommend a Gillette Venus razor.

  • MALE ATHLETES: If you have never shaved your body, don’t wait until 3 days prior to your tanning session to start.  Start shaving the month prior to the show and learn how to do it.  There is nothing worse than watching a grown man squirm because he is getting tanned over top of a terrible razor burn because he shaved in the hotel lobby bathroom 15 minutes prior to his tanning session.

  • The same applies to the use of depilatory creams & waxing.  Learn which products you like well in advance.  The week prior to your show is not the time to experiment. Pro Tan® Hair Away is a great option that we recommend.

24 Hours Prior to Your Competition Tan (Pre Tan Care):

  • Shave for the last time or use Pro Tan® Hair Away for the last time to remove unwanted body hair. Waxing at least 72 hours prior if you choose.
